RIP Bob Sorenson
We are sorry to bring all Barbarian members the sad news that our patron, Bob Sorenson, has passed away. The clubrooms will be open after the funeral, so members and friends are invited to move to Eden Park at the conclusion of activities at the church.
The following is the family notice published in the New Zealand Herald today and yesterday:
SORENSON, Robert Gordon (Bob). Passed away peacefully at Auckland City Hospital on May 25, 2016 surrounded by his family, aged 92. Loved husband of the late Joyce. Loved father and father-in-law of Denise and John, Lesley and Bruce, Frances and Grant, Mark and Jenny, Greg and Charlotte, Chris and Vanessa, Paul and Shelley. Bob to 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at St Michael’s Catholic Church, 6 Beatrice Road, Remuera on Monday May 30 at 10.30am. Thank you to Auckland City Hospital staff and the great team at Eastcliffe Retirement Village.

We are saddened to hear of Bob’s passing and our condolences to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We remember and thank Bob for his 60+ years of service to rugby and our club as club captain, president, life member and patron.

Bob played 40 games for Auckland from 1942 to 1946, scoring 173 points, and was a hard-working and marvellous contributor to our club.
