Belated New Year’s greetings to you all and although our newsletter department has been a bit quiet, the club has been busy with one-day cricket and NRL Nines. Thanks to Dean, Trina and Mereana for looking after the bar and thanks to Harvey, Dowdy, Dylan, Ron and Joe who hired the club boxes for these games and ensured the club enjoyed good turnover through the bar.
We are now well into 2016 so the following are immediate events for your attention:
Pat Walsh Memorial Bowls Day on Sunday February 21
Peter Tubberty is putting together a team of Barbarians, so give Tubb a call on 027-682-4670 if you can take part or send Ken Baguley an email.
Barbarians vs Eagles Golf Day Monday April 18 at Pakuranga GC
This is an advance notice of the annual golf day against the Eagles. By way of background, the Eagles Golfing Society was formed from golfers who have served on any of the many golf committees around New Zealand. A major purpose of the Eagles is to raise funds for junior golf and the Halberg Trust. A number of our senior Barbarians were/are trustees of the Halberg Trust and an annual fixture evolved many years ago. Unfortunately the game versus the Eagles didn’t happen last year (I can sense Murray Reid scowling from on high) so would it would be great to get support for the fixture this year. Reidy can then start smiling again. Contact our golf CEO Mark Moore mandjmoore@xtra.co.nz or 027-255-2155 or email Ken Baguley.
Super Rugby is just about here
The first Blues game vs Highlanders is on Friday week, February 26, 7.35pm at Eden Park.
The full home programme is up on our website and the full Super Rugby programme is available at http://www.sanzarrugby.com/superrugby/fixtures/2016-super-rugby/
This seems to be a well organised website so could be worthwhile saving this site for future reference. We look forward to seeing a good turnout in the clubrooms before and after the game on Friday and all home games at Eden Park.
Membership cards for 2016
We have had a reasonable response to our subscription invoices, so thankyou to the 53% of members who have paid.
Membership cards will be mailed to all financial members this week and these cards will be needed to get past Eden Park security to gain admission to the clubrooms. If you are part of the 47% who haven’t paid then it would be good to get subs admin out of the way for 2016 so the secretary looks forward to hearing from you.
