Since 1989, the Barbarians have held an annual Fun Day at the Navy Rugby Club grounds at Ngataringa Bay on Auckland’s North Shore.
Traditionally, this is one of the highlights of a packed Barbarians calendar and a chance for many Barbarians to catch up and socialise. The day is about hundreds of primary school rugby players from across the wider Auckland region meeting for mini-games, and having fun with skills and drills before hooking into the sausage sizzle and a soft drink.
In recent years, the Blues players have often tried to make themselves available to sign autographs and help with the games. The day would not be possible without the ongoing generous sponsorship of Peter Thompson and his team at Barfoot and Thompson.
In 2013 the Barbarians branched out and held the first Bay of Plenty fun day in Paengaroa and this has proven most popular. It was repeated in 2014 and plans are afoot for another in 2015.

This is still a very special day in our Barbarian calendar and will be repeated again in 2015 and hopefully for many years to come.
